In this episode, Melissa Kennedy, Project Manager for the EBR Stormwater Master Plan, provides an overview of the planning efforts, the goals of the project, and what the public can expect once the project is complete. The Stormwater Master Plan was launched as an initiative by Mayor Sharon Weston Broome in response to the Great Flood of 2016.
Mark Goodson, who leads the process to assess the current development codes & ordinances for the city-parish, will discuss the recommended potential changes and best practices that will reduce flood risk.
Jeff Doudrick discusses the vast amount of data that was collected as a part of the Stormwater Master Plan and how that data was utilized to develop computerized models. These models inform the project team on areas that are prone to flooding and the potential impact from those flood events.
